Mobile Phone Market in Cambodia
The economic performance of a country depends very much on the potential stability in order to promote peace and harmony towards achieving overall prosperity. Presently, Technology in the modern economy is no more an option in the competitive world. Without technology, we would not be where we are today. In fact, the global economy is fused with the latest amenities that technology has to offer.
Nearly last 10 years, Cambodia Telecommunication progression is playing very important role in the market from day to day. So far, there are an amount of both local and foreign companies. Nowadays, there are four Mobile phone service companies competing in free market such as Cam GSM Mobitel (012-092), Hello GSM (016-015), Camshin (011-099) and Camtel (018). According to Ministry of Telecommunication, AZ Communication will invest its mobile phone service (019) in the nearly future.
Source added that an amount of mobile phone users are increasing up to 840 916 in 2005.
A huge of different type of mobile phones have been imported into Cambodia market such as Nokia, Motorola, sony, Acatel…etc. Presently, most of these brands have been sold on the market. According to research result, Nokia is the best brand where its market have been very hot attract. We noted that Nokia is the leading brand not only in Cambodia market but also the world market. After losing a part of its market share in Cambodia a few years ago, Acatel, French telecom technolog providers, had contract to upgrade the network of leading Cambodia mobile phone group CamGSM with radio access, and core network equipment as well as video telephony and streaming applications in order to compete in Market.
At the times, there are a plenty of phone shops in the Capital of Phnom Penh and the town of provinces in Cambodia.
