Celebration of Valentine’s Day in Cambodia
The celebration of Valentine’s Day on 14 February always have been made every year in Cambodia. In order to avoid of making some mistakes of giving flowers to friends or family or lovers, youths should understand well the meaning of rose color and concept of love. Virak posted Happy Valentine’s Day in Phnom Penh held, if you drive or walk along the street in City, you will see more roses sold on the sidewalk, on standnewspapers, in the markets, in the flower shop…etc. Because demand is greater than supply. So during that day, its price increase more highly than normal day. One roses costs $1, normal day, it is only 800 Riels ($0.20).
Different point of views of marking Valentine’s Day in Cambodia amid head of school, governement official and NGOs officer, they said that Valentine’s day is the event held in Europe, not Khmer culture. The last decade, this event have been held in Cambodia among youths such as junior and high school students and unversity students, who always are waiting for this day to come in order to buy flowers for their lovers. Others raised that most of Cambodian youths do not 
understand clearly the meanings of Valentine’s Day at all. So that the ceremony will affect Khmer youths in the morden time.
According to observation, most school boy and girl students skip school on this day, they gather at resort, and any places instead of going to school.
There are some private companies, non-govermental organisation celebrating on this day such as concert of Best of the Best at Olympic Stadium, Concert at Rock entertainment center, OK@ Condom organised by PSI, and others.
