Movie: Killing Phone
At the present, Khmer productions are increasingly booming by a great amount of Cambodian supporters after demonstration of destroying Thai embassy and thai-owner private companies at the begining of year 2003 in Phnom Penh. Thai movies were not broadcasted on locally-privated TV stations following strike.
Khmer movie makers are trying to find new technic and strategy to produce Khmer movies to be better including both performance, meaning of story and others. Although, Khmer movies still did not keep in pace with movies of neighboring countries such as Thai movies.
“killing Phone” is the new movie playing currently in Kirirom Cinema, Phnom Penh from January 27, 2006.
For me, I don’t know its the meaning of this movie yet. If you have time to see it, please share some of it with us.

We seem to love producing too much horror movies. I love Romantic/educating movies better. Thanks for the post!
Wanna,
Wanna, i agree with you. At present, recently-film making is still not reflecting education in the society very well. I also think that movie writers is not still good. I like to see Singapor movie relating to business, romatic because its meanings reveal well-communication in society. Athought, our Khmer writers have to learn more. By the way, some of Khmer writers did not attend school. So that quality of film-making is not good.
Preay Asorkay, another scary movie…
It seems about a week that i havent made any post on this blog, so sorry, nah because it’s been so busy for me this moment. I was trying to find time for it too, but idnt find any

Hi Khmerbird, I read your story “Katouch” published by Nou Hach Literary Journal. What I was interested in is the man, writer, were killed by accident. By the way, your story ended this scence, but I want to know what will happend to driver?????
thank vutha for your comments on my story,
he run away, the driver he run a way
and nobody will be able to catch him,
it happen like this all the time here in Phnom Penh, as well as in Cambodia.
i just believe people should make more attention when they drive,
i am doing an adoptation of the story in both languages French and English,
there’s something more i didn’t say in Khmer language,
it is beause it’s limited to 25 pages,
so there are many thins i can’t put into for the competition,
in english version, you will see much more.
Regards
Being a foreigner (French) I’m especially happy to see that there is a re-birth for Cambodian movies. I support in buying some of these new movies on DVD via Internet (the last one was “Burn the Witch”).
I like every kind of movie, but my preferred are the “ghost” and “horror” films. From any country and period (1895 to now).
I would be pleased to buy more Cambodian “ghost” movies on DVD, especially the older ones, if some are still available.
Do you know if a complete database of ALL movies produced in Cambodia exists, as the IMDb is regrettably incomplete about the Khmer movies. I have some old titles with Dy Saveth (or Dee Savet) as a kind of Gorgon-girl, and another, whose English title is “Crocodile Men”. To my surprise, it was an old Khmer adaptation of the well-known story, “Krai Thong” (two movies about the subject were made in early 1980′s with Sorapong Chatree, and two others much more recently – but I’m sure there is a lot of other adaptations…)
Would be pleased to trade informations, etc. with people from Cambodia…

Thank you!
I don’t know if this is relevant or not, but I feel like I really need to give an opinion about the quality of Cambodian movies. I think that the quality is pretty disappointing. I mean, the storylines are mostly sad, melodramatic, excessively corny and frustrating. What wrong with adding plenty of humour mixed in with the romance? (Romantic comedy is my favourite genre by the way) and I don’t mean the lame, mirthless kind of funny, but actual ‘this is hilarious!’ kind of funny. I think Korean movies and dramas are the best examples. The worst part is the fact that they always dub over the actors’ voices. There is nothing wrong with using their genuine voices! Some people may like it, but I’ll tell you now, when I watch one of those movies, it is definitely not music to my ears. I am Cambodian myself and I really want the level of Cambodian movies and dramas to raise a couple of bars.
Sometimes I just feel like making my own Khmer movies and fix everything up. Lol – who’s with me!?
Cool! do u know where I can find and watch that movie? The perfect
date. Is it on youtube?
Hey Ravy, you can find it at Cambodian Market but I don’t know whether it is on youtube or not.
