Life of peanut vendor

Because of condition of poor family, there are many young girl and boy drop school and make dicision to earn money to support their family. When you visit the beach in Sihanouk Ville, you will see many young boys and girls walking to sell fruits such as mongoes, peanut, cake, and other some souvenir things.

This is a photo of girl, who is the peanut vendor at the beach. a can of peanut fetches 500 riel. She said that if she sell out and she will get profite around 2,0000 riel ($5) per day.

If we look at the young people living in remote areas in our country, we will see that their education and knowledge are poor and some have no chance to attend school because of the poor family. What is important is that they dicided to stop going school in order to help their parents’ work. What will happen to next young generation in the next decades? How do the government solve the poverty? When are Cambodian people’s living standard better?

hey there…how are you? hope all is good. I want some peanuts…overhere…it cost 2.99/lb of cooked peanuts…hahaha. Why are you posting all this pictures up? making people want to go to cambodia? You should be an advertiser….

I am so fine. if you need boilled peanuts, you should come to cambodia.I am not advertiser but I want people over the world to know Khmer people and our country clearly. I am so pleased, when they know where Cambodia is. Nowsaday, not so much people know what is Khmer or Cambodians. Mostly they know our neighboring counties.

I still strongly believe that the first (and possibly best) way to end poverty in our country is to give these kids opportunity to go to school and provide a better educationa system. The goverment needs to open up more FAIR job markets that gives those with equal knowledge a fair chance of being accepted into the work field, and not base their decision on currupted money. Parents need to beware that only education can save their children in a long run….
