Oung D’Ra is popular violinist in 60s
Oung D’Ra, 68, is the violinist and song writer in 1960s. He is the best friend of Sin Sisamuth who was the popular singer staying in the heart of Khmer people. He is the luckiest man amongst his group killed in Pol Pot regim. Presently, his family’s living standard is destituted. He has one man and one woman. His children can not play violin like him but they can play guitar and drum.
When I joined in Sin Sisamuth’s Night Program, I met him and talked with him. He is friendly but he did not like to talk so much. When we asked him about singers and a band of music in 1960, he happily answered all questions.
If you all want to meet him and listen to his violin, you will be able to join in Sin Sisamuth night program organised by 3 local NGOs. This event always occure one time a month every full moon day.
