Former Khmer Rouge Leaders to make monk
Recently, local information were revealed that former Khmer Rouge Leaders in Kampuch Democray regime from 1975-79, Khieu Saphon and Nuon Chea, are living in Pailin municipality an attempt to make monk. Last week, young people who are the ex-khmer rouge solders’s families, made monks and nun.

After I posted article on CIC Web portal on “Khieu Samphon and Nuon Chea have attention to make monk while Khmer Rouge Trial nearly appears”. I got feedback from Mr. Meng Ly who reacted to what the both have attention to make monk during Cambodian people is waiting for creation of Khmer Rouge Tribunal in order to bring justice to victimes and family’s victims. Meanwhile, What Mr. Meng Ly reacted to it as following:
“According to our buddhist tradition, if someone of that kind of history, the law will not allow them to be a monk. Every monk must have a good history of charactere. These two men have a world reputation of leading a genocide regime killing millions of people. How can these men becoming a monk. Cambodian public must do all we can ban them to become monkhood. If they feel regret for their past and want to do something to clean their stupidities, they can shave their head and wear white clothes (robe) and work as slave to help to grow rice, sweeping public streets and public areas. They can not deserve to be respected any level of Cambodian public”
For my opinion, I think that It is not important is that they are crime or not. If they committed crime, they will face a court. Even though, they are monk. After Khmer Rouge Tribunal creation, they will stand in the court in order to answer the questions from prosecutors and judges. So that, it is not the big concern for Tribunal and Cambodian peopl.
