The gas price increased contiuously from day to day. High gasoline price is affecting the people’s living standads. Until today, its price in Phnom Penh is up to 3900 riel or $0.95 per liter. According to Mr. Sok Kang who is the owner of petroleum giant Sokmex, he said that the price will soon reach $1 per liter.
Mr. Kong Chadarot, director of the Cambodian Institute of Development Study, said that the increase in the fuel cost will trigger higher level of inflation, which was 5.93 percent in March, down from 6.2 in February. He added that the price of oil is a global issue, but it impacts the domestic economy.
