Charity acitives for the poor pupils

The initiative hade made by a small group of individuals working in NGOs and other institutions after they saw Cambodian people’s destituted condition in remote rural areas. They created blog named “Poomyerng” to reveal the activities and collect money and some materials to donate the poor and kids. And then they announced this to their co-workers and friends working in different organisation in order to join in giving gifts such as books, pens, pencils, rulers, money…ect

On March 26, 2006, they took all gifts such as pens, pencils, writing books, money and so on from their supporters to donate to kids in Kohkol primary School, located in Kohkol village, Kohmit commune, Kampong Siem district, Kampong Cham province. They are the children living in the poor family.

The road access to this school is narrow and difficult. By the way, car can not run on the small path. The both students and teachers were pleased with donated gift.

You can see more photos of their activities offering gifts to students. Please Click here.

That’s very nice activities. We will help wherever we can

I wish I could join such a meaningful activity. I’m so proud to see Khmer Helps Khmer.

Life of young children in remote rural areas is facing vulnerability, anger, short of food and so on. The poverty is roote to make Country development backward. Government commits to halve porverty 2015. 35% of population is living below porverty line. And 91% of the poor is in rural areas.

85% of population in rural areas is depent on agriculture. In fact, their annual products can not support their family the whole year. Their agriculture such as growing rice, crops and agri-industry depend on nature.

Because of the poor, their family members have to try to earn moeny for living. So that, children drop school and have no an opportunity to attend school. So, their school time is money-making for their family. What will happens to next young generation???. what does the government help to reduce porverty?
