Yesterday afternoon,on 23 May 2006, there was a meeting between Staff and members of Executive Committee (Excom) about report of Excom’s activities, Finance and other issues. But this meeting was different previous ones because what was important was that all staff would get termination letter for ending their working contract at the end of June because of lack of funding, except 2 projects (Khmer Rouge Trial Project and Khmer OS). At the mean time, that day was the sad day for staff to express very concern of losing job in the future.
For me, I have more works to do before finishing my work. What I will do is my task list, preparation of documents and writing of proposal for supporting my project. Right now, I just finish my draft proposal on ” Anti-corruption reduction program” for seeking funds from Pact-Cambodia (International non-governmental organisation). By the way, we are waiting for approval of funding from EED, which is the core donor, if they approve we will have money for continuing projects.
On the other hand, Mr. SamAth, messenger, told me that after getting termination letter, he stayed up. He added that he was worried about losing job, and he will be difficult to find an employment. However, it is hard to find work, I told him not to worry so much. And I tried to hearten him. I gave him hope that we will be able to have funds for supporting our organisation. I am so regretful that when we have no money to continue my project but I will make my effort to find money for my project.
As a result, all staffs are waiting for positive answer from donor before the end of June. If it is negative, they will be jobless.
