My fear of Water
On the Sunday morning, 21 May 2006, I and my friends departed from starting point at Ministry of Finance and Economy at around 8:00am with mini-bus toward my friend’s wedding house about 60 km from Phnom Penh. Ant it took us 3 hours to get to wedding’s house.
I personally don’t like to be on boat or small ferry crossing river or lake. Luckily, there was big ferry enough to carry many cars and passengers crossing Mekong river at Resey Chhroy Port. At the time, I felt happy because I did not worry with this ferry. Why am I afraid of boarding boat?. Because I don’t know how to swim. If boat would sink, I will die with drown. And then we started driving on the bumpy road toward bride and groom’s wedding house in order to be on time for lunchtime. If this morning there were heavy rain, we would not drive car on bumpy routes. After fininshing wedding’s lunch, we all came back but not the same road, which we went. We went other road.
When we came back, What happened to me?. When we reached the docks, I saw small ferry to be able to accommodate 3 cars. I felt not good with it. Even though, I had to board it. I was agitated and could not sit one place. I walked from one place to another and talked with my friends in order to release my fear. Do you know? when ferry departed from the docks and approached in the middle of river. Its generator did not work well. And then generator was out of order. This was the time to make me more afraid and I think that how I could do if ferry turn over because I cannot swim at all. To reduce my fear, I took out my digital camera to take pictures. Maybe 5 minutes later, generator run well. my feelings were better more little bit. At that time, I really wanted ferry to reach its destination fast as soon as possible. As a result, I was lucky to get to port safely.

Vutha, I think you should learn to swim. It’s not hard, and is a useful sport as well. Whenever u know how to swim, the fear will disappear
* I can swim, as I always went to river when I was young
I can swim. I always ran to the river(my house is just a few meters from it) to play with water when I was young
You should learn to swim — it’s hard. It’s a kind of useful sport as well.
In fact I used to learn to swim in river, when i was young but I still could not swim. My brothers learn to swim with me at the same time but they could swim, except me. The elder aways advises their children that ” Learning to swim is better than learning to climb up tree”. Probably, I will not be able to know how to swim in my life.
Hehe… a nice trick to start learning swimming is firstly learn how to «ជ្រមុជ អážáŸ‹â€‹ážŠáž„្ហើមក្នុងទឹក» then, u’ll be able swim very fast.
hahahaha with enough determination and practices..you can learn how to swim. I learned how to float and basic swimming so I won’t die…hahaha I am sure you can too if i can! hahaha
