Bad impact of bet on Football Match
Bet on football is the popular game in Cambodia among students and common people, especially in city and towns. World Cup match started last week in Germany for a month. To look at the activities of bet on soccer in Phnom Penh, there are many illegal places for betting sport. Cambosix is only legal one that was given permission to run bussiness, until now there are 30 branches.
According to VOA’s report on “Asia Buzzing With World Cup Fever”:
Betting on football results will also be big business during the month-long event. Only a few places in Asia, such as Hong Kong and Singapore, have legal betting agencies for football gambling. Many gamblers are expected to place bets with illegal bookmakers, who are often connected to organized crime syndicates.
There will be many crimes happening because of bet on football match. These crimes are included robery, kidnapping, school drop-out and so on. They will commit crime on innocent people.
During the World Cup Championship, there will be the worry about the sexual exploitation and commercial of women and children to Germany, where is the destination.
Henny Engles, German Women’s National Council (GWNC) said that ” We’re worred more women will be smuggled into Germany from Eastern Europe and they mayeb forced into working in the sex industry.”
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) voiced deep concern today that children and women could be trafficked and subjected to sexual exploitation during the Football World Cup currently underway in Germany, where some 7 million fans are expected at the various games.
Recently, local newspapers reported that a man, who is an accountant for Construction Company, were arrested because he withraw $20000 from company in order to open place for bet on World Cup. He lost game in total of more than $40000.
Bet on footbal was a driven force to make my youngest brother to drop out school and sold his motocycle for betting football match. Before this problem happened I always told him to stop betting football. One day, he did not stay at home for a few days. I tried to look for him but when he came back without his motocycle. And then I asked him where your motocycle was. He responded to me that he lost football match. At the time, I did not say anything. I did not blame him about this because I thought what was lost let it go away. I always advised him not to do like this again. But he did not stop until he lost match $600 again. That is the issue of betting football.
Many students are losing his study and dropping school out because of loss of football bet. And it is the bad impact on them and society. And they often try to sell his own property and steal their parents’ property as well.

I also used to be mad in betting football but never went so serious like your brother and many other people. Since I got my job, I never thought about this betting anymore. I only watch the match since I’m also a crazy football fan. Most of time, when I watch the match especially the recently word cup, my uncle (I’m from the province and now living with my him) always ask me “Did you bet?”. My only one answer is “No, don’t worry uncle! I’ll not play it”. Yeah, he did not know that I used to play
Anyway, you did a great job with your brother by not to blame him. Most people like to blame or punish the person that did something wrong. They don’t realize that they will make thing more worst. Some children left their house when they did something wrong. They’re afraid of their parent. Some day those child will fall into the worst situation such as drug and robbery.
