US Immigrant Visa to restart in Phnom Penh
US embassy in Phnom Penh have closed applying US Immigrant Visa since 2002 and Cambodians have been required to travel to US embassy in Bang Kok to get immigrant visa, except non-immigrant visas-tourists and student visa.
US embassy will restart immigrant visa processing for Cambodians who are seeking to live and work in USA.
Maura Marty, US Assistant Secretary for Consular Affairs, said during a press conference at the US embassy in Phon Penh that “We intend to resume embassy processing of immigrant visa…in Phnom Penh so that Cambodian citizens in the future who would like to immigrant to the United States will not have to travel to Thailand to process their visas.”
