Life of Karaok Girl
Life of Karaok girl is working at night. Niza is a girl working for Soul Karaok as Karaok girl. She is 20 years old. She has worked over there more than 4 months. Her life is dependent on monthly salary and tips. She said that her wage is only $60 per month. At the mean time, she can make additional money from guests and guest serving fee. When she serves one guest one time, she will get paid for additional $1.50 service fee charged from guest. Sometimes, she got tip as well, sometimes not. The life of the night work is not easy for them. By the way, the girls have to make guests pleased, to singe a song and drink with guests as well. Niza, she said that she can single a song but not beautiful. For girls, even though, they can not drink beer or wine before, but when they work in Karaok, they have to learn to drink and song, if not drink with guests, her supervisor will complaint her. Niza added that, she used to be drunk when guests forced her to drink lots. She said that she does not like serving young man or teenager, but the middle-man.
She recalled her hurt love story with a married man. She fell in love with him when she was at the age of 18. At that time, the man rented house for living with her. Later, the man’s wife knew that her husband had mistress. And then the jealousy broke out between her and the man’s wife. Later, Niza broke away with her lovely man. Nowadays, she is renting a house with her 3 co-workers.
Besides spending daily living cost, she has to spend on her make-up before going to work. She said that she have to spend at 3000 Riel for her make-up one time. Normally, she leaves her workplace at 1:00 am. And she have to sleep at day time instead of the night.
