Plan to develop Bokor Resort
Bokor Mountain in Kampot province is the natural resort that attracts Cambodian and foreign visitors to visit there. On the top of Bokor is home to a former casino resort, and has waterfall abandoned since the 1970s.
Accounting to Local foreign newspaper’s report, Sokimex Company will plan to build a hotel for local guests, a resort and villas on the top of mountain. On Thursday, company lodged an application with the Council of Ministries to develop several thousand hectares on Bokor Mountain.
Sorn Sokha, Sokimex Vice President, quoted by The Cambodia Daily as saying that the initial of development on Bokor would involve $100 million in capital. A 300-room hotel, eight-hole golf course and 100 luxury villas would be built in the first phase as well as a vegetable farm and orchard. A new road would also be built.
Tourism Ministry Secretary of Sate Thong Khon said developing Bokor is crucial to the development of neighboring Sihanoukville as an international tourist destination. He added that “it is so wonderful there, so we have dreamed about this for a long time.†The newspaper reported.
After submitting application to government, the company hopes that the deal can be processed by the end of the year. The land price surrounding this area is creasing from day to day. By the way, Hospital Charey II will plan to build hospital building in Bokor mountain area in the future.
