According to The Cambodia Daily’s release on November 22, 2006, “Man Swims 5.8 km for Charity-Handcuffedâ€, Canadian Filmmaker, Matt Frame, 34, swam with handcuffed hands from Gulf of Thailand to break Guinness world record for the longest swim- 5.8 km- on Tuesday in order to raise money to build and manage a free English School. He lives in Sihanoukville for 19 months. The paper said that at 9:45 am Tuesday morning, Frame dived off the top of a scuba-diving boat, put on the handcuffs- which he purchased from Phsar Thmei in Phnom Penh- and swam to the nearby island of Koh Tres.
Over a year a go, American Brian Friedman, who completed his handcuffed swim of 2.4 km, had been disqualified by Guinness because he had sworn a wetsuit, which is against Guinness’s rule.
Fame is currently working on a new film based in Cambodia called Joebodia, a follow-up to Baghdad or Bust, which he hopes to start filming in 2007. The paper reported.
