Hollywood Angelina Jolie’s good heart with Cambodians
Last week, Hollywood power-couple Angelina Jolie and Brand Pitt and their Cambodian son Maddox visited to Cambodia and made Cambodians surprised. She visited Pailin municipality and Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum.
Angelina Jolie was born on June 4, 1975 to Oscar-winning actor Jon Voight and model/actress Marcheline Bertrand. She has an older brother James. Her parents divorced in 1976 and Angelina was raised by her mom in New York State.
It was the first time in 2002, she went to film for “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider†in Siem Reap provincial town at Cambodia’s world-famous Angkor Wat archaeological site. She has an adopted Cambodian boy, Maddox. On July 31, 2004, King Norodom Sihamoni has just signed a special royal decree approving the citizenship in recognition of her environmental work in the country.
She has set up Cambodian Vision in Development (CVD) and US conservation group WildAid, starting up Maddox Project- her adopted orphan son- with $1.3 million over five years. The project was set up in an attempt to preserve the environment in the north-western province of Battambang, where she has bought a home.
Jolie terminated contracts with CVD and environmental NGO WildAid, which had jointly implemented her project because of using improper money on project implementation in the previous years. Mounh Sarath who is director of CVD said that all money from Jolie was spent properly. Meanwhile, Jolie will be considering filing a lawsuit againt Mounh Sarath.
Mounh Sarath was quoted by The Cambodia Daily as saying, he received and e-mail from Jolie’s Los Angeles lawyer Tuesday, saying that the actress would sue if Mounh Sarath does not issue a retraction of statement he made publicly accusing Jolie of violating a funding agreement.
