Two private hospitals to be closed for violation of health codes

Health ministry official said that the private well-know private hospitals, Taiwanese-owned Jean Ay clinic on Norodom Boulevard and Chinese-owned Tong Sing Hospital on Sihanouk Boulevard, will be shut down because of violation of health codes and various instances of medical malpractice.

At the mean time, the both clinics do not have enough Cambodian doctors on staff and also have used their private ambulances to transport an accident victim from the scenes, which the ministry of health issued a directive forbidding private ambulances on November 25. The health ministry official added that all Cambodian hospitals are obliged to employ more Cambodian doctors than foreign ones to ensure that the country benefits from foreign investment.

According to local Khmer-newspaper’s report, there was traffic accident on Thursday between motorcycle and car on the road and then a man died after being hospitalized Jean Ay Clinic. His widow wife and family alleged doctors for mistreatment. She appeal to ministry of health to close completely Jean Ay Clinic, wants Clinic to compensate and call for government to strictly control all private clinics and hospitals before giving permit to operate their clinics.

Nurses and doctors are important to serve patients’ life because their lives depend on them. By the way, doctors have to take more cares of victims and patients, even thought, they are the poor, the rich and the power. But there are discrimination happening in Cambodia between the poor and the rich. If the poor was hospitalized and did not give money to doctors and nurses, and have no powerful relative. They will not be carefully treated.
