Gov’t has willingness to lower gasoline price?
Recently, Cambodian government expressed its willingness to lower current high gasoline price in comparison with international market, especially with neighboring countries. Fuel price in Cambodian Market remains around $1 per liter.
According to Prime Minister’s announcement, he will allow private companies to import gasoline from neighboring countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, and Loa in the attempt to reduce current gas price in the market. Will this strategy succeed or not? Does the government have real willingness to reduce gasoline price??? Government and private companies always raised more problems that they could not decrease fuel price due to the international market high cruel oil price, but now the international market cruel price was down. Why does government keep companies higher gas price than other countries?
I observed that when commodity price in Cambodian market was up, its price rarely decreased. By the way, it was the opportunities for businessmen to make more profit. Who is the victim of the high basic commodity price? The poor is the victim of the price, while their income still did not increase.
