According to local newspapers’ report, more than 400 villagers have fallen sick, one died and some blind after drinking and using the pond water in Malai district’s Takong commune’s Boh Thom village. The papers said that those began having mass sickness since February 7 and they suffered impaired vision, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, skin rashes and extreme fatigue after drinking contaminated water. 

So far, no one knows what is the cause for making villagers to fall ill. And the Institute Pasteur du Cambodge is analyzing a sample of the pond water. Villagers have not now been allowed to use the water and catch fish from pond. By the way, ministry of health also sent water for running test in Japan.
