19th Century Bridge Recreated

Naga bridge

Phnom Penh municipality spent $2.25 million on new bridge along Norodom Blvd near Wat Phnom. It was reconstructed with four Naga heads, and was originally designed by French architects in the late 19th century. Stones used for bridge were brought from Preah Vihear province.

Vutha, it seems to me there’s no channel next to the Wat Phnom Penh needed to build bridge there. Why?? Newly digged??

I guess they just wanted to imitate the original one that was there around 60 years ago, but then was removed to give way to the new park and road.

It looks pretty nice though. Do you have a more front picture, Bong Vutha?
