On April 01, 2007, the day that Cambodian citizens living in the country rushed to polling stations in their communes, and villages in order to cast a vote for choosing new leaders to lead and to develop their communes. According to unofficial result of election, the ruling party received a massive victory.
As you knew, one day before voting day, text messaging from all phone company providers was blocked. Because it was said that ban was to prevent illicit electioneering. That was unacceptable reason.
Not all registered voters went to vote, some opinions said that it was because of complicated registration, voters who were blocked or bribe to stay home, intimidation, and so on. In fact, we should know that most of Cambodians are getting bored of politicians from term to term. Before election coming, each party’s members always promised people to construct roads, schools, combating corruption, improvement of people’s living standards…etc. they won, their promises to people disappeared.
By the way, the internal conflict in party broke out; it is because of power? That is lesson learnt that people lost faith in politicians from day to day. Therefore, they did not go to vote for new leaders. Is their fault not to go to vote for new leader?
Others said that it is not good not to vote for choosing new leader. What did you not think that all old and new leaders are the same? I myself did not to go to vote, because I felt bored of so-called politicians, and their promises. Their political party policies are good on papers to read out to people.
