Reporter attacked by fish sauce
A reporter for Khmer-language Angkor Thom magazine, San Bun Thoeun, was splashed with fish sauce by a senior official last week at a Phnom Penh restaurant and demanded official apology from him.
Moung Khim, deputy director or the ministry’s judicial police and a husband of popular singer, Meng Keo Pechda, expressed anger for a story that implied that he was jealous of other couple’s wedding anniversary festivities, written by Bun Theoun.
According to reporter, Moung Khim invited him at restaurant in Phnom Penh and then attacked angrily him with fish sauce due to published article. And now, reporter demanded him to apologize for his mistakes if not, the report will file complaint with court. But Moung Khim denied saying whether he had thrown fish sauce at the reporter, but added that “fish sauce is for eating, not for splashing people.†The Daily reported.
Khieu Kanharith, ministry of information, was quoted by the local media as say that “Moung Khim should ask for a correction if he is unhappy with a story.â€

Related to the story of Muong Khim splash the fish sauce to the reporter is not good if we look at the outside image only. But it is not that he invited that reporter only to splash the fish sauce. Thing went as simple, he invited to ask about why did you write that. Because in the article that Mr.San Bunthoeun published say something that is not from her word. He says something like “Even Mrs.Meng Keopichda feel jelious with Mrs.Cham Chan leakhena’ wedding ceremony….”and want to cerelebrate wedding ceremony too……………” This is not real at all and this reporter never interviewed Mrs. Meng Keopichda about this at all. How come he got this information from. I respect those reporter who write news using their common sense but not tendency but a few reporter do this unprofessionally. They are lack of morality. Now back to the splashing of fish sauce, when this reprter got there as invited, they started talking about the published news. Mrs. Meng Keopichda says that why did you do this. You did not interviewed me at all. Where did you get this information from. He said that he wrote it by himself. And according to the bystander, Mr. San Bunthoeun acts in a rude way that he did not do anything wronge at all. And Mrs.Meng Keopichda’ husband also asked that “Do ou think that other people got angry when you write sth that is not real about them?” But Mr. San Bunthoeun did not answer positively to this and saying that he does not have time to talk and walk away abruptly. This made Mr. Muong Khim got angry quickly and reacted this way. After splashing the fish sauce, Mr Muong Khim added to Mr. San Bunthoeun that fish sauce can be washed away the smell but what you did in the publication can not be washed away becuase this is a kind of ruin the fame. and more………..
I think what he did is to the least reaction of his anger. Now the fish sauce of his body is no longer there but the fame which ruin by his publication is still there. If you look more into the publication by some magazine, their publication are frequently not real and they event use their publication as a tool to demmand for bribe for not publshing in the magazine. They even called directly to the owner of the story and ask if she wants this to be published or not and if not just gie some money. So what do you think about this. I really respect and appreciate those who did professionally but some use this a a tool for demanding money and taking favor from someone or attack those who they do not like.
