Poor cambodia!!! Then, in my district Serey sophorn of Banteay Mean Chey, the electricity per kw costed about 1 $. Unbelievable!!! But we must believe coz it is the truth. The price depends on the private electricity company. From month to month, they increased the price. Fortunately, now, the price desirable has been offered by Electricite du Cambodge. 24 h/24 h, only 800 riel per kw. Some parts of Banteay Mean Chey still meets the problems you meentioned above.:( one good news, more internet shops gradually can be found in my province..

Hello Vutha.
You are right, electricity poses a major problem in Cambodia. Imagine our project, we are slowly putting in place ICT infrastructures, only to find out that these could not work because the electricity supply in the pilot areas are not enough to sustain it. We can only think of alternatives, such as solar panel (but very expensive). Still we are hoping that this problem will be solved sooner.

P.S. It was great to meet you in person. I was lurking here in your blog for a long time now.

It is because of lack of infrastructure like Electricity supply, high price of internet, which make ICT sector in Cambodia to run forward slowly, especially in rural areas.

if you need to use Solar panel, whether you think that it will be sustainable for project or not.

Once again, I now found out who is lurking my blog, hahaha. Thanks for interesting in my blog. and thanks for meeting in person with u and your staff. I hope one day we will work together.
