I felt so regretful after receiving email from my classmate telling that Dr. Long Siem passed away on Saturday July 15, 2007 at the age of 72. He was the vice-president of Royal Academy of Cambodia and the president of the National Language Institute.
He is a known scholar recognized by national and international intellectuals. He died of disease. He is author of Russian-Cambodian and Cambodian-Russian dictionary in the mid 60s. By the way, he finished his study in Russian.
Even though, I never learned with him but I used to attending workshop presented by him at my school, Royal Academy of Cambodia. I expressed sad to lose a renowned scholar for our Cambodia. He is well known for his language expertise no one can compare to him. Read related article
