Trading Sex with virgin in Cambodia
The International Organization for Migration released report on “The Ties that Bind: Migration and Trafficking of Women and Girls for Sexual Exploitation in Cambodiaâ€; there are about 85 percent of the Asian men who pay to have sex with virgin in Cambodia, which around half of the Asian clients are Khmer (47%) and the other half are Asian foreigner including Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Pilipino; Thai and Taiwanese men.
There are only 9 percent of western men who bought sex with virgin and other 6 percent are unknown.
Report added that, firstly, the average amount made from the sales of virginity is very high- at an average of US$482, with a range from US$20 to US$2800. These girls are overwhelmingly underage at the time of sales- 74% of them were under the age of 18 years, and 14% of them are under the age of 15 years. The commercial sale of virginity is one of the major routes into commercial sexual exploitation for women and girls.
Who has money to pay for sex with virgin??? There is only high class such as the rich and powerful who has power and money to buy virgin in order to specify their pleasure and sexual desire. Who is the victim of virgin trade? Women and girls are working at high karaoke pallor, entertainment centers, discotheque, and so on. Those of them before entering the commercial sexual exploitation are farm worker, domestic worker, garment worker, coffee shop worker and beer girl.
Most of women and girls, who have been victim of trade in virgin, are because of poverty, discrimination, materialism. After selling virgin, they will entry into the commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking.
How to reduce the trade in sex with virgin in Cambodia? How about the implementation of law in Cambodia? I have seen that Cambodian law is only serving the rich and the power but the poor and marginalize people have not been prevented by law.

To me it is not suprising about this general fact, i might say, cuz I’ve heard about it just that i’ve never do more research. And for more infor, in some high school now, there are few bad people acting as the middleman in sex trade. It is quite dangerous because the fact is not investigated. I hope it is just a rumor!
It’s interesting that the report emphasized that only 9% of the clients are Western men. How was the study conducted? How many virgin BOYS had been molested by Westerners? Sometimes, we need to question the ulterior motives of the reporter rather take the report has irrefutable fact.
While I am deeply saddened by Khmer-on-Khmer sexual exploitation, I am equally concerned about the growing indictment of Khmer and Asian men in the Cambodian sex trade by Western organizations and journalists. Having a background in scientific research, I could easily tell that some these “reports” and “studies” are no more than thinly veiled attempts to minimize the role of Westerner sex predators in the Cambodian sex trade.
As a Cambodian American who frequently visits Cambodia, I have frequently spotted Westerners trying to pick up young Khmer girls and boys in public places in broad daylight. Maybe virginity isn’t the main concern for these predators, but their actions are nevertheless exploitive and conducive to the Cambodian sex trade.
