Obstacles to Cambodian internet users
If we say the word “Internetâ€, it is likely to be something beyond the knowledge of ordinary Cambodian people. More than 10 years the internet has been entered in Cambodia. Internet is a tool for communication, circulation of information, searching news and information as well. By the way, there are less Cambodian Internet users in the present time.
On November 05, 2007, Open Forum of Cambodia organized workshop on “Internet Use in Cambodiaâ€. There are 6 points of findings that are obstacles to Cambodian people for accessing internet.
- Internet pricing is still high expensive in comparison to income level of the people
- Inadequate infrastructure
- Knowledge of computer and internet for Cambodians is still limited
- Local content (Khmer language content) is still limited on internet
- Knowledge of foreign language for Cambodians is still limited
- Lack of electricity.
