PM condemned public land swap
It is because that the land price has been skyrocketing in the recent years, and most of Cambodian people are the victims of land grabbing by the rich and the powerful people across the country. Some people had been killed by military police while they protested not to move out of their land. The value of land is high because of political and economic stability.
Recently, Prime minister warned some government officials again and again of the swap of hospitals and schools to private developers for less-valuable outlying land. It is due to the increase in high price of land in recent years. By the way, government buildings have been moving to areas on the outskirt of city.
The swap of public land is not new issues that we all just heard but it is the old ones happening throughout country. On the other hand, there were in the exchange of public real estates in some municipalities and provinces. It is good that the government takes action against the exchange of public land like schools and hospitals. It is very crucial to keep schools and hospitals near the population centers.
Last month, the written statement by prime minister, which was broadcast on several television channels, was one of the first occasions that the premier had publicly condemned the practice.
