I read the article reported by local-Khmer newspapers about the mentally-ill woman to be raped in Kampot province four times by two men, leaving her with three children and pregnant of a fourth, but she cannot receive justice from judicial system.
The first man raped her and left her a son but the two-year son died of being kicked to death by his mother. The perpetrator had been sentenced to two year in prison. Later, after leaving the prison, the same man started raping her again and she became pregnant and delivered a daughter, now her daughter ages 6 year olds. The man did not punished by law and died.
That was the unfortunate life of mentally-ill woman, she became victim second time to be raped by second man living in her village. She was pregnant and gave baby boy. Now he is 3 years old. After filing complaint by her parents, the local authority ordered the criminal to pay 50,000 riel ($12) in compensation to support the son.
After escaping from the village for a while, the man returned and raped her again, leaving her pregnant. Even her relative’s family and Local NGO lodged complaint with local authority but the perpetrator are still at large. Until now, unfortunate woman has not been given justice by the court. Why does the court not seek justice for her?
