Be careful to choose free blog platform

That is the true story I got phone call from my friend and told me that “My blog is down, how can you help me?” he used the free service of blog platform, and his blog was now down because his blog platform hosting was dead. He asked me to help him to restore his posted data but I have no idea to help him. Will you be able to help him to restore data?

I got used to tell him not to create blog with unknown blog platform because it takes risk but he told me that he likes term “Khmer”, which its free blog platform is “Khmerblog.com” I am not sure whether blog platform was run by Cambodian national or not. And I told him to choose well-known blog platform like wordpress.com or blogger.com. But he did not do.

Nowadays, all data have lost completely; maybe it is not available to be restored because he does not know its owner. All is the lesson leaned we should be careful if we want to use free service of blog platform. By the way, blog platform did not ensure that they keep your data safely after it is down. Before creating free blog, we should ask ourselves which blog platform we should use. It is important to store your information.

As I remember, the khmerblog.com is run by Cambodian(also owner of cambodiaforum.com). I see mostly internet services provided by Cambodians are still not stable enough. Choosing a World Class platforms provided by giants like Google, Wordpress,… is the best.

Sorry that kimheang lost his blog with that unknown service. I hope they are working to get it restored. I just visit the main route of the khmerblog and it didn’t work either. So you cannot do anything even to contact them.

So, i guess what he can do for now is just wait to see how it is going to happen then if luckily he got it back to live. Quickly migrate to other services (wordpress or blogspot). Best of luck to kimheang. Thank you for the post vutha.

Thanks for your comments and concerns. Of course, i know other blog plateform as well but as Vutha mentioned because I love the to show the Khmer identity therefore, i decide to choose this one. I hope they can be solved IF yes, I will migrate it to the new plateform.

Nice that you’re proud to show Khmer identity, so I am. If a service provided by Khmer has equivalent stability/reliability as to others, I’m surely choose the one of Khmer
However, what to do if they first give u food, then leave u in a jungle? Well, I’ve tried many services, and I see this is the main shortage of our fellows.

Hey Kim Heang, that is sorry that u lost all data. I also show our Country identity as “Khmer” but free blog platform is not reliable. i think it will be hard to restore your data.
