Khmer News- Cambodian economy
I went to Battambang province last week and then visited Banon temple. While going back from temple, all of my co-workers stopped and visited grape field along road toward to temple. Battambang provincial farmers plant grapes and make Red Wine from it. A bottle of Red Wine costs $15.
At the present time, most Khmer products have been made in Cambodia, exported to abroad and distributed in local market.
I noted that not so much Cambodian people like to buy products made in Cambodia; they always use foreign-made products by regarding it as the good quality. We, Cambodians, should help encourage our local producers and buy local products rather than to buy imported products.

Your point accepted bro. It’s sad that a lot of our compatriots value more foreign products than the domestic ones. We should learn to appreciate what we have. Not all things foreign are good.
I buy “made in cambodia” clothing…hahahaha They are expensive here….well at least at the stores that I shopped at…if you look at the tag “made in cambodia”…not bad…hahaha Red Wine…I don’t know about wine, not a fan…but SWEET RED WINE~ THEY ARE GOOD! =)
@mongkol. it is true imported products are not so good. it is like fruits to be used chemical to be fresh. our CAMBODIANS do not value KHMER products. the fact that some local products are better than imported products.
@ Dear Lina, the truth is that Cambodia-made products are not bad as what some Cambodians thought. What is important is that we have to value LOCAL PRODUCTS. If people support and buy local products, it means that people will have job, make profit, reduce poverty and improve their living standard.

Last year in April of 2009 I had been to that small vinyard in Phnom Banon. I also tried a shot of the Bourbon they made. Not bad. The red wine is not bad but coming from a far away place I had to have a few bottles to take home. In fact i have one sitting in my closet stored away for a special occasion. Next time i will buy the bourban. (which is that gold bottle next to the wine)
