Last week, the leading Khmer newspapers released the rumors of people who died of receiving phone calls that displayed red-colored number on the mobile phone from international calls and land line calls. The spread of rumors had happening throughout the country. Some said that there were some people died of receiving red numbers in some province such as Kampot, Sihanoukville, and Phnom Penh.
Unreasonable rumors occurred by spreading from one person to another about the number of deaths. By the way, the unbelievable information was circulated from friends to friends and from relatives who told their friends and families not to answer phone calls with red-colored numbers.
Even Piseth got phone calling from his friend to tell him to be careful of red number and then he believed that it is funny things by saying said:
There were a few numbers that people say we should be aware of like the red numbers, the 707 or 007 or the blue numbers. I got a few phone call reminders from some of my friends saying i should care fully aware of receiving the phone call cos it could kill me. Do you believe it? And they told me to call to as many people as I could to let them know what is going on.
Until now, no specific source of information reported the number of deaths from red-colored phone calls yet. But the government officials that it was not true and it is only the rumors spreading across the country. By the way, government officials were not surprised by these unreasonable issues.
Phnom Penh municipal police chief Touch Naruth was quoted by the Cambodia Daily as saying that:
The source of the rumor mongering would be discovered and prosecuted. He added that the inventor will face legal punishment.
Some people said that it is because the national election will be held on July, so that anonymous person invented this issue in order to make the country unstable and unrest throughout the country. However, no specific sources have been identified yet.

I hear about things like that over here all the time. They’re called Urban Legends. They’ve even made a movie about it. There was one about missing calls on your cell phone. When you check your phone, you see that you have one missed call but that caller left a voice mail. When you check your voice mail, you hear yourself but it’s from the future and they’re stating a time and date and details of your death. It’s kind of scary but it’s not true.
We need to keep track of why this rumour took place at first. Look at how many people use the mobile phones. Anyway, if victims had already passed away as soon as getting the calls, would there have been anybody there who could clarify that? It’s a myth.
If you remember one social problem, it’s good to mention…Eating green beans could save you from bird-flu…something like this happens…because some Cambodians like gossiping…and dont’have good basic knowledge!

by this rumor, we can say that the rumor inventor really sees khmer people stupid. he must have thought that we would believe this nonsense rumor, but he didn’t realize that he is really JACKASS to created such rumor….
next time if you, the rumor inventor, want to make our country in turmoil, i beg you please, invent a reasonable rumor… we cambodian are not as stupid as the hell you are…

This rumors spreading on our Country . . i live in the Philippines . . .and the rumors came from Malaysia and Indonesia . . theres a numorous numbers of victim already according on the story . .and in our place theres already an increasing numbers of victim . . sounds wierd , , sounds stupid . . i dont believe this . . but i need to be careful . . .
hope someone can clarify an official news about this . . . it is to clear every people’s mind who believe this rumors . .

Just because it’s hard to believe doesn’t make it not true. My mom WITNESSED it in person, so it did happen. Supernatural happenings DO occur whether you like it or not, and you don’t have to believe in it for it to happen. Just because you didn’t get to witness it yourself doesn’t mean it isn’t real. If it’s going to take something that can claim your life for you to believe, then so be it.
