Ban on sexy photos on publications
Recently, the ministry of information banned the advertisement of photos of men and women in skimpy dressed printed on numerous magazines and tourist guidebooks in an attempt to protect the traditional values. Government said that the skimpy attire will enable tourist to get confused that Cambodia is a target for sex tourism and it affects the women’s morality.
Ros Sopheap, executive director for the Gender and Development Organization said that she thinks the ban violates people’s rights to dress as they please, but thinks it could also be a good measure to strengthen morality, quoted by the Cambodia Daily as saying.
Normally, weaken country always is easier to receive the influx of foreign culture such as the import of new technology, clothes, and materials and so on. That is the global time.
In the past few months, the premier’s wife called for provincial and municipal authorities to review singers and performers wearing the skimpy dresses on the scene. Later, she banned three songs from being playing in public because they were affecting the value of children and women.
