According to the 2008 report released by Licadho, most of Cambodia’s media outlets are aligned to political parties, corruption and fear.
The report read that many Cambodian journalists have been attacked – physically or legally – and most feel vulnerable. Threats and fear have a direct influence on their work, and their reporting has a direct influence on the public’s perception of their country, especially around election periods.
Naly Pilorge, Director of LICADHO, said that “Remaining criminal sanctions need to be eliminated including disinformation and is information to ensure an environment free of political pressures for media to cover sensitive and important issues affecting Cambodians” report read.
Recently, newspaper editor-in-chief has been filed against the defamation, insult and disinformation, accused of publishing leader’s quote, and he was released on bail after being detained one week in prison.
The report cited Kek Galabru as saying, “There is still hope as most journalists have expressed the desire to be able to perform their work in an ethical, impartial and professional manner.”

Defamation are usually accused to many journalists and some who show their opinion against the high ranking people in Cambodia. I think those high ranking should prove themselves non-guilty rather than suing those who give their constructive criticism. Or is it a traditional to allege s.o of defamation ?

My personal opinion, Journalist can write about anything they wish and get away from political pressure if they write in an ethical way, impartial and professional manner, on top of cautious quoting words and an event with firm concrete proof to back their story.

Media is not free. Have you ever seen the TV broadcast news about corruption? But you always see news about big people build pagoda. The media hasn’t fulfill its purpose to deliver fact and balanced news to the public. But it fulfill the propaganda of government.

I personally think that government have to stop punishing journalist for publishing news and information by charging defamation or disinformation.

FreeArticle is not my type any more since it earn like 10 to 15 dollars something a month, I just let it go…I mean I have too many. whatever earn the most I keep. I just heard me when I don’t have time to put more content so just let it goes. Keep the good job I am now do some expirment on how to earn money from adsense the easy way, I guess it is so easy if I tell you right now, but wait until I see the result I will share it to you so that you can make more money. I respect someone who is working hard like you, brother!

After creating blog, i felt afraid of writing and sharing something. i now am likely to love blogging because I can share what i know and see with all of you. And i can speak out through my writing posted on my blog.
