It is not new amongst Cambodian teenagers but it is new for me while I spotted a group of 5 young girl school students was out of restroom at gasoline station by carrying their student uniform wrapped into plastic bags. And then they took on modern-style clothes and ride new model motorcycles, which the teens like riding it.

Decreasing in social morality is causing problems in society and families. To this points, we can ask that why they do not go home and change their clothes? It is not hard to answer this question. It is because that they do not want their parents to know. Among those young girls I thought are high school students.

In fact, each parent always thinks that their children really go to classroom and take their attention into the teachers but not like what they have thought.

Public toilets located at gas stations and shops are the target places for truants to change clothes and go out with classmates or friends. These make all girl student’s behaviors decrease, turning the strict Khmer tradition into modern-style culture. Most young teenagers like copying foreign styles like clothes, make-up, and so on.

I got to used to hearing the word “gas station’s toilet” while my friends said and I never thought that it is the good place for young adults to change clothes. Now, I saw the truth

We shouldn’t blame them. It’s our educational system that drives them that way. Here in VN, we see alot of high school girls in that way but i admire them that they manage to keep their study in stable.

We cannot compare our culture to Vietnamese’s. It is not really related to the decline of education system. For me, i think that it is related to foreign culture flowing into Cambodia, including clothes, technology, accessories and so on. The young teenagers are easy to adopt to foreign culture. By the way, it is the globalization age. Culture, economy… always is flowing from one country to other inevitably.
