Decrease in use of condom by sex workers
According to report from Population Services International (SPI), condom use program, use of the prophylactic sheath by the sex workers has declined from 94 percent to 85 percent in the past two years.
Chris Jones, PSI country manager, said that “what we know is that condom use in brothels is very high. There’s a very supportive environment for condom use,†he added that sex work has shifted from brothels to venues like karaoke, bars and beer gardens, as brothels are closed in accordance with Cambodia’s new anti-human trafficking law, quoted by the Daily as saying.
Although condom use is rising for men involved in sweetheart relationship-loosely defined as non-marital, non-commercial and repeated sexual encounters involving at least some degree of affection- HIV/AIDS experts interviewed said, and men should be more cautious about using protection with their wives and sweethearts, reported news.
