Having a person of a different ethnicity openly accept the beauty of traditional Cambodian wedding attire should be a positive reflection. Indeed, I do agreed that western culture generally clashes with that of the east. However, we should embrace their open mind and stray away from critiquing their appearances. No offense intended, but most of the Cambodian society are generally critical and judgmental of physical appearances. If you do not follow the straight line path, then you are un-pretty so to speak.

I know all these guys except the chap on the left hand side. They are Australian Youth Ambassadors for Development who are voluntarily working in Cambodia. I used to provide Cross-cultural Training to all of them before they departed to Cambodia. The lady in blue sky is Roni. She is a Cambodian Aussie.

Personally, I think these guys are nice though their personalities as Westerners/ Aussies are a bit different from us. I am sure they do like Cambodia and our culture but they are somehow playful as you can see in the photo.

I thought that their characters are not gentle and polite like our Cambodians as u mentioned. But they wore Khmer traditional wedding because they like these clothing. What they did is for fun. I think that it does not affect our culture. How do you think? If they do not like such clothes, they would not wear and have photo taken.

Those guys are still strangers to Cambodian's tradition as we can see they don't have a soft character as Cambodians. Anyway, we're all have different personalities and identities. And it's safe though...

They did not get married, they just wear Khmer wedding clothing for having photos taken. They are the Australian students who are working as volunteer in Cambodia. One of them is working with my organization as adviser. he will go back on Sept.
