Delicacy of Giant Spider Called ‘Aping’
When you arrive in Cambodia, you should try to taste some insects such as cooked cricket, tarantula which are the favorite foods for Cambodian people. At the time, I just want to let you know the delicacies of giant spider called in Khmer word as ‘Aping’ that is the kind of insect with hairy-eight legs and it is the exotic insect.

Aping was on sales in Kampong Cham
Aping vendors said that most of them has been caught from forest or rice fields and then they fried them and some people buy live tarantula for curing backache, body pain, leg pain and so on by pickling live Aping in the rice wine for a few weeks and then they drink it with a small cup every day.
So far, I feel scared of eating it. Firstly, I just ate its legs for testing whether it is delicious or not, even though I never ate the whole, especially its abdomen which was said that it’s the sweetest part, with the texture of a soft goat’s eyeball.
Where can you buy Aping? It is not hard to find it. When you go to visit Angkor Wat temple by bus, you will travel along national road 7. Most of buses always stop at restaurants at Cashew Plantations (Chamkar Svay Chanty) in Skun district, Kampong Cham province less than one hour for letting passengers to have breakfast and go to restroom.
You will see a lot of Aping sold over there by Cambodian women. Most of them have been fried already and placed on trays for sales. Its identity is easy to be recognized. It is black and eight legs.
