Recently, all government institutions have been required to switch their computers to the Khmer Unicode Standard. All government’s documents have to be typed in Khmer Unicode instead of previous different Khmer fonts.
Khmer Unicode fonts have been developed since 1996 and its standard was fixed in 1999. By the way, Unicode assigns a unique number to a single character, no matter what the language.
At the present, some students, NGOs workers and civil servants switched to use Khmer Unicode. Even me, I have used it more than 4 years. Typing Khmer Unicode font is easier than typing the other fonts such as Limon, ABC font and other fonts. I am now used to typing it.
I observed that most of computers at internet cafés are not installed Khmer Unicode font which is difficult for users. By the way, it is not support with Window XP. Most of computers used in Cambodia are old and out of date.
It is good that the government requires all government, private and education institutions to switch to use commonly Khmer Unicode.
Yeah, I read the letter from coucil of minister singed by deputy prime minister to enforce is rule of using khmer unicode font as a standard document for each ministry and within 60 days effected from the date signed.
I knew how to type it but I don’t use it @ all until now though
I think that you should try to use it. it is easy to type than other fonts. and it is fast.

Yes, Khmer Unicode is commonly used in nationwide. Khmer Unicode could not fix in Windows 7.
