Schools will be able to be a training school to educate corruption, if schoolboys and schoolgirls are required to buy candy or cakes sold by teachers, or to pay party for teachers, or to buy gifts for teachers at the end of each year. And students have been forced to buy lessons and pay daily supplementary tutoring to teachers, especially getting money from students in order to increase scores.

Teacher said: wow, nothing is inside your exercise book, if you do that, it will find difficult.

Despite asking money from student in schools, while taking exam or passing certificate, these make the effort of human development and education curriculum unsuccessful.

How do you think about the above message? How to reduce or eliminate it? Why are these issues happening in schools? What will affect the schoolchildren and education system in the present and future?

That’s coz of the teacher’s salary is too low to live their life. They should not be blamed. They are also elites. They are educated. They have consciousness. But the poverty forces them to do that. Imagine if the salary is adequate to earn their life, Will those activities happen more ?

It makes me remember when I was in high school in Cambodia. Yes, I did buy the lessons too, lolz. It is hard to change this attitude- as everyone knows our educational system can’t be so strict because people need to make a living as well as all those teachers. So we don’t really blame anyone, either student or teacher. lolz

Buying lessons.haha I was just talking about that the other night. One of the relatives said that she had to sent at least $150 next month to her son so that he can use it to keep the teacher’s mouth shut during the exam. She said give them $1 each so that he can asks his classmate for answers during the exam. To me, what’s the point of taking exam if you can’t do it yourself? They said everybody does it and sometimes you need help. It is true that most of the times, you can’t answer some of the questions on the exam but if you can’t, leave it blank or guess. Do what you can do.

All these things have never happened in the old day [during my time] and unfortunately that it is happening now. However, teacher shall not be excused for low income so they have to act in such way. Teaching is something that they should love, is something that they care to pass on to young generation, is something that they choose to do so the children shall not have to suffer [low mark if not buy cake or candy, or no party or gift at end of the year].
As for those to buy exam paper in order to have a brilliant mark and graduate shall be ashamed of themselves.

Buying exam results or question answers !!!
The only one who suffers here is the student,a piece of paper showing a student passed an exam is only that , a piece of paper.Parents should be aware they are doing more damage to thier chíld than good , education is for the future of the child, not a means to give a parent ‘Good face’.Parents should encourage thier child to study and help where they can,how can Cambodia improve if parents encourage thier children to be corrupt and fail to get educated ?

Teachers should earn more salary and removing bad behaviors will come next

  7. Stephen Fate says:

Corruption begins with the officials in charge. Do you have parent teacher associations? The only way to change things is for the people to get together and protest. Just as in the USA the officials only listen when enough people get together and make trouble for them.

We should think about source of make problems, not only education sector!

  9. vutha says:

If not curb corruption in school on time, it means that current public schools are teaching schoolchildren how to commit corrupt. We know that the root problem but Ministry of Education has to solve this problem.
