And he also supports ARNENAL, according to my friend.

That is the second time that I met and saw the wedding ceremony in which the groom was absent on the day of marriage celebration. In the last few months, I wrote blog post on “Wedding Ceremony without Groom” which the Cambodian-American groom missed being in his special day. And I posted the article saying about how to leave and live abroad as well.

Yesterday evening, I drove through Mondial Center, I saw huge photo hung on the building of wedding hall as big as advertising billboard. Taking a glance, I thought that the advertising on products but it was not. And then I moved my eyes down to the front gate on ground-floor, and I saw a group of couples’ families, relatives and guests standing there. But what was odd was that I did not see the groom and bridegrooms standing to greet guests.

At the time, I did not stop. I just drove and saw what was going on with this wedding. A big white screen was installed near the place of groom. And at other side (right side), bribe and her families were welcoming wedding guests. I think that white screen is for video live from abroad. And this wedding was held between Cambodian girl and Cambodian man living abroad according to the photo shown. That was what I just draw conclusion. But not sure 100%.

In the era of hi-technology, the women who often were given high value in Cambodian society got married to live video with white screen that is the lifeless appliances. What will happen to Cambodia culture? What is the value of women that we, Cambodians, always respect and protect?

To this point, I am not sure whether marriage law is possible to prohibit such marriage or not. And the local authorities have full rights to postpone it or not. Therefore, I would like all of you to join and share your opinion on this issue. How do you think? I raised this in order for all you to make deeply consideration into the current society, especially the Khmer culture. It does not mean that I interfere someone’s affair.

Many and many Cambodian people had been killed during the cold war by fellow Khmer. Why have Khmer killed Khmer? When will they stop killing? Why do they not unite and live together to develop the country? The people always expect that they would be living peacefully after the cold war was finished and the country’s leaders have been elected democratically by people.

On the contrary, the people cannot live in peace mentally and physically as expected. They still have been living under threat, intimidation, killing, and robbery and so on. The poor is getting poor, the rich is getting rich, therefore it is seen that the gap between the poor and the rich is widening. Land grabbing, landless, corruption, threat, intimidation… are getting worse. The people’s rights, power, freedom and liberty are weakening.

Because of term “POLITICS”, it has been hurting the people, mostly those are illiterate and low educated. They do not understand well what the politics meaning is. And they have been convinced to support the parties by the politicians. Finally, they are the victims of the politics.

Because of the politics, the people got used to live peacefully in families and village together by turning into the conflict, discrimination, jealousy, intimidation, threat and killing. Those who are party supporters or activists have been killed and threatened by other parties. It is politically motivated. Innocent people are used as pawn for the political games.

To my opinions, I personally think that all Cambodian people have to distance themselves away from the politics or political games which are paying by the politicians for their power, self-interest, and their group and families. How do you think?

Strengthening and expanding social morality education is a key factor for social happiness and life-style.

On the contrary, the current social morality is decreasing day by day, especially amongst youths, students. Losing morality is a losing of human being’s quality. At the present time, some students do not respect their teachers until threatening and beating teachers; it is like the case of teacher in Banteay Meanchey province.

Prime Minister’s wife, Bun Rany, expressed her concerns over the decrease of the social actions by saying that:

Negative social actions, vices, and cases of rape - for example fathers raping their daughters, grandfathers raping their granddaughters - are on the increase. She stressed that this is really a problem. Such immoral acts were not part of the Cambodian time-honored tradition. She added that this is not a problem that we should ignore, it is a national issue. Some people understand that social developments make people act like that. She raised the question whether society leads the people, or whether people lead the society; whether people educate the society, or society educates the people. If the society leads the people, it means that it is a good society, but people may lead a good society to deteriorate. She continued to say that according to her idea, it is always some people who lead a society to deteriorate.

If a society is practicing high core of conducts, high social morality, therefore society will be no wars, no killing, no violence, no prejudices, no ill-treatment, no ill-will, no conflict, no exploitation of human, peaceful society and so on.
