The first gems exposition will be held at Hotel InterContinental in Phnom Penh this week from Money to Wednesday, organizing by the Ministry of Commerce. There are between 30 and 50 large local companies with experience in manufacturing and exporting jewelery to display their valuable stones in an attempt to local and international clients.
There are more than 100 security personnel and security equipment deployed to protect the exhibits.
“We are encouraging high-class people and businesspeople to visit,” adding that “Our vision is to create an international jewelery market. We want our people to make jewellery for the international market, not just the local market,” Seun Sotha, director of the Ministry of Commerce’s Trade Promotion Department, was quoted by the Phnom Penh Post.
