Khmer Website Providing Free Khmer Hosting

Hosting has been an issue for almost all Cambodian bloggers. We have worked so hard to get the site up and express ourselves and passion to the world. Having a blog or website is what a Cambodian blogger like us wants to have. As the world moves on, Cambodian like us should have something to share and get updated with the change of the modern world.

Lightning is a main killer of Cambodians

At least 77 Cambodian people have been killed by lightening this year in Cambodia; most of them are the Cambodian citizens living in rural areas. In comparison, the lightning toll is higher than landmine, only nine.

Traditionally, it is believed that when someone is strike by lightning, covering the victims with a white cloth will help them recover. The people were hit by lightning, especially during the rainy season.

Piseth posted his blog entitled “The Cruel Lightning in Rainy Season” and he expresses his doubt:

“I wonder whether it is because of the natural disaster or the loose of natural resources and as a result it brings this phenomenon? Maybe, it is because of the growing and expansion of magnetic area with all the cable and stuffs like that around the living area that’s why it causes such problems. In order to prevent or to avoid something like this happen then individual should be aware of that and should not go under the big tree or big light stand during the raining and not using any mechanic tools while it is raining. Prevention better than treatment!”

More lightning strikes could be because of more storms, broader storms, or storms that are higher in the sky than usual; Don MacGornam was quoted by the Cambodia Daily.

Illegal Vietnamese immigrants in Kampot- Cambodia

Woman, over 40 years, pulling wooden cart into the courtyard of resident in Kompong Trach district, Kampot province is a Vietnamese scrap metal dealer. While I was standing near her, I heard that she could not speak Khmer, but Vietnamese language. She have illegally been living in Cambodia but doing petty small business in Cambodian soil without the threat of local authorities.

Illegal immigration was the main topic for political parties to conduct 2008 election campaign. In the wake of preliminary election result by NEC, opposition parties filed complaints with National Election Committee against the commune and village chiefs offering Identification Cards to illegal immigrant living illegally in Cambodia.

Talking about illegal immigrants are focusing on Vietnamese national. While walking around Phnom Penh you will meet Vietnamese living and doing freely business in Cambodia from petty business to main business.
